Growth, Experience, and the ‘Simplicity of Factoring’ Brought Freestyle Transport Back to Apex<\/h2>\n

The Freestyle Transport story is one fueled by growth and the kind of trial-and-error learning experiences that lead to success. Based in Vancouver, Washington, Freestyle Transport started in business in February 2007 with just one truck. When Serge and his company began factoring with Apex<\/a> in June 2012, Freestyle had 10 trucks hauling mostly reefer loads.<\/p>\n

Eight years later, Serge decided to switch factoring companies. But a mere six months after that, in June 2021, Serge and Freestyle were back at Apex working once again with Account Executive Brenda Machos. We recently flew to Vancouver to sit down with Serge and get his thoughts on his journey with switching factoring companies. How Did You First Hear about Apex?<\/h3>\n

In 2012, a friend of mine introduced me\u202fto Apex. I wanted to simplify\u202fmy invoicing process, my billing process. Instead\u202fof billing every customer, I wanted to focus on growing the company and having a company like\u202fApex take care of me on that part and be able to\u202falso get the cash flow in time to be able to grow.<\/p>\n

I had one factoring company prior to that in 2007. Then I steered\u202faway from it to billing customers directly, and\u202fonce I was introduced, I liked everything that\u202fApex had to offer. And how much easier\u202fit was for me to be able to grow and work with a company that\u2019s very organized, has a good process, has an easy portal<\/a>, and has a very easy system.

Why Did You Switch Factoring Companies?<\/h3>\n

As I was growing, I made\u202fthe mistake of switching to a different factoring company for a little bit. The trucking industry is\u202fa low-margin industry, and I just wanted to minimize\u202fmy expenses, and I thought that was the right\u202fmove. Four months later, I decided to go back because\u202fthat company put us in such a disorganized billing\u202foperation that we had to hire a separate person to just be able to figure it out. There were a lot of invoices and a lot of volume. So it\u202fwas very hard for staff members to\u202fgo through it. And if there were any discrepancies,\u202fwhich there were a ton, there wasn’t a portal\u202fthat you could just log in to see your account like\u202fwith Apex.<\/p>\n

We got another person to\u202forganize things, but we realized that it was just\u202ftoo big of a headache. You almost needed\u202fa forensics accountant to come\u202fin and solve an issue, which shouldn’t\u202fhave gone to that extent. So, I\u202fcalled my rep Brenda back and told her, \u201cYou know, we\u202fmiss the simplicity of the factoring company,\u201d and\u202fwe came back.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text css=””]<\/p>\n

Why Would You Recommend Apex?<\/h3>\n

Growing a\u202fcompany, and trying to scale, requires a lot of capital\u202fand you have to focus on being able to add assets.\u202fTrucks, trailers, especially our model, which we do\u202fa lot of drop trailers, so we require a lot more\u202fequipment, a lot more trailers. Growing\u202fa company requires getting paid for freight a lot quicker and, in that sense, Apex has been a big, big help for us.<\/p>\n

How Important is Communication for Success?<\/h3>\n

It’s just building that relationship, being able to communicate and work together. With\u202fjust one phone call and having a rep like Brenda, I’ve worked with the same rep since 2012, it was just very easy to be\u202fable to communicate and solve the problems. But I would say it’s Apex.
