Whether you have been in business for years or you are a startup company, you know that trucking insurance is one of the top 3 largest expenses. Like fuel and maintenance, it’s a necessity. You don’t run legally without it.
But there is a lot of misinformation regarding trucking insurance, especially when it comes to the planning for insurance and, of course, the pricing of insurance. So, we decided to lighten the load on the heavy topic. With the help of trucking insurance experts John Mondics, President, and Jonathan Mondics, Vice President, of Plano, Texas-based Mondics Insurance Group, we put together a two-part series answering top-of-mind questions about factors that affect commercial truck insurance rates.
Part one focuses on the planning stage, the ramp-up to getting a quote and securing insurance.

You’re a good company driver with a solid two-year record of dependability and over-the-road excellence. You’re also the type of person that can’t help but stare lovingly at the truck on the next lane, the one with the 7-car carrier and the neatly stacked array of shiny, colorful vehicles. Well, then you’ve come to the right place.
Do you dream of owning your own car hauling business? As a trucker with valuable experience in your back pocket, that dream could certainly be a reality. You already have an advantage from your years of safe driving. And we’re here to help you make that dream come true. So, we put together a checklist that leads you to owning your car hauling company.

We all know what a contract is – a legally binding piece of paper that says I will give you this and you will give me that. We both sign on the dotted line and we’re locked in.
But trucking contracts aren’t that cut and dry. In the trucking industry, contracts aren’t always the standard kind. In trucking there are essentially three types of contracts – verbal agreement, paper or digital, and non-compete or non-solicitation.

Two and 12 – those numbers have a nice ring to them. We are so proud of two and 12. This is the second year Apex Capital is named one of the Healthiest Companies in America by Interactive Health. That means we take the health and wellness of our employees very seriously. What about the 12? Well, this is the 12th year that Apex is named one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas. We call it our lucky dozen. That honor is quite special because it’s all about our employees. Sarah King, Apex’s Health and Wellbeing Manager, offered some thoughts about the Healthiest Companies in America award. Apex was one of only 151 companies in the United States to earn this award in 2018. That number went down from 184 companies in 2017, when Apex first won. And Shelley Goodrum, Apex’s Chief Human Resources Officer, has watched Apex grow through the years and she’s pleased to know that the Best Companies to Work for in Texas honor reflects keeping all employees happy during that growth.

At Apex, we appreciate our clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. How do we do that? Well, one of the ways is by featuring them in a calendar. The Apex Capital Client Calendar is where we frame 13 chrome and steel beauties and showcase them as shining examples of pride and joy.
This year’s contest to select the baker’s dozen trucks and pick a cover winner began July 29 with photo submissions through Aug. 12. From Aug. 13-20, our fellow Apexers voted to select the Top 13, and from Aug. 22-Sept. 3 public votes determined the cover-winning truck.
So, without further ado we present to you the client calendar cover winner…
